Review 75: Project Hail Mary

Project Hail Mary Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Andy Weir is back in shape. If you've read the Martian, you're probably going to like this one. If you didn't... well, I don't blame you. Weir has an odd style. On the one hand he's very much hard sci-fi. The math has to make sense, things cannot be simply pulled out of your ass, which can create for some very believable sci-fi, which is what this book is. Without trying to spoil, everything that happens in the book could theoratically work. On the other, Weir can be incredibly immature. Even though his characters are supposed to be adults, it often feels like they are written to be like teenagers. Even the most ''mature'' adults in the book talk about sex in a giddy, childish way. This can be rather off-putting and is what dropped the score down from 5 to 4.
