N.K. Jemisin is a storyteller par excellence. Few writers, within or outside the genre, manage to get so deep into the mindset, the struggle, the life of the character. The story here is not observed, it is experienced. In this book, we continue with the life of Syl the orogene and what she needs to do to fix the problems of the world. Alabaster is her guide, who mysteriously showed up again. What she needs to she considers impossible.
